Revive How You Use Social Media
I want to share something that’s been on my mind lately.
It’s simple but powerful.
As someone who’s naturally introverted, I used to see social media as just a way to scroll through updates.
Maybe get a quick dopamine hit from a funny meme or a bit of news.
But over time, I’ve realized there’s more to it.
It’s not just about consuming content.
It’s about connecting with people—especially those we haven’t spoken to in a while.
Let me ask you this: When was the last time you reached out to someone just to say, “Hey, how are you?”
Or when was the last time you saw something nice on social media and actually took the time to comment or give a genuine compliment?
Why Small Gestures Matter
I’m a firm believer that small gestures can have a huge impact.
They don’t cost you anything. FREE.
But they can make a world of difference to someone else.
Imagine seeing a positive comment on a post you made about a project you’ve been working hard on.
That little bit of recognition can make your day, right?
I know this because I feel the same way.
Whenever someone messages me or reacts positively to something I’ve shared, it feels like a little victory.
Especially when it’s related to a project I’m passionate about.
It’s like getting a dopamine hit that keeps me motivated.
A quick story: The other day, my wife noticed I’ve been hitting my workouts more consistently.
I’m still far from my goals, but when she complimented me on the small improvements, I felt like I was on cloud nine.
It was such a simple thing, but it made me want to work even harder.
These small gestures don’t just lift our spirits.
They also create a ripple effect.
When someone receives a compliment or a kind word, they’re more likely to pass that positivity on to others.
Genuine compliments are like lighting a candle; the flame spreads without diminishing the original light.
You have the power to start that ripple.
Think about it:
When was the last time you reached out to an old friend just to say hi?
Or left a genuine compliment on someone's social media post?
If you're a leader, when did you last acknowledge your team's hard work?
You can make someone’s day better.
A Challenge for You
So here’s my challenge: Be the first person to reach out.
Think of someone you haven’t connected with in a while:
A friend from college
A colleague you’ve lost touch with
Or even a family member who could use some encouragement
It doesn’t have to be a long message.
A simple “Hi, how have you been?” can go a long way.
Or next time you see something genuinely nice on social media, don’t just scroll past it.
Take a moment to drop a compliment.
It’s amazing how far a little recognition can go.
Remember this: words have the power to impact someone’s life.
Choose to make a positive impact.
And who knows? That person you reach out to might really need to hear from you today.
You could be the one who brightens their day, just as others have done for you.
So, let’s make it a habit to be kind.
To cheer each other on. And to connect without any agenda.
You’ll be surprised at how much of a difference it can make—not just in others’ lives, but in yours too.
Looking forward to hearing how you’ve reached out.
I hope you enjoyed this issue.
See you next week.
