The Power of 1000: Why You Should Write Before You Judge
Read time: 2 minutes
In the fast-paced world of instant opinions and constant comparisons, it's easy to judge your own abilities too soon.
Before you slap a label on yourself as either "good" or "bad," consider this:
Write 1,000 posts.
Writing isn't just about putting words on a page; it's about self-discovery, improvement, and growth. The journey of creating 1000 posts isn't just a goal; it's a transformative process that will reshape how you understand your own voice and skills.
The first few posts might feel a bit awkward or unpolished. That's okay. Embrace the discomfort because within it lies the seed of improvement.
When I first started writing on Threads, my posts lacked engagement, my language felt too "deep," and my style echoed another popular creator. I was fixated on creating the "perfect post." (do you also feel the same?)
However, with more posts, I:
started shifting to writing like how I speak
worried less about perfection
prioritized simplicity and directness
And the result? I experienced increased interactions with my posts, and the writing process is more enjoyable.
And speaking of the journey, I'm still here, well beyond post 200 in Threads. I'm navigating the path of finding my own voice and relishing every moment of the creative process.
Reaching the 1000-post milestone is a testament to dedication and consistency. It's not a shortcut; it's a commitment to the long game.
The more you write, the more you learn. You develop a unique voice, gain a deeper understanding of your interests, and refine your ability to articulate thoughts.
So, before you hastily judge yourself as a "good" or "bad" writer, invest in the process. Write, reflect, adapt, and repeat.
The magic doesn't lie in the number itself; it lies in the growth, evolution, and self-discovery that unfolds along the way.
So don't rush the journey; savor each post, for they are the building blocks of your personal and creative development.
