My 11:50 Rule (sharing it with you)
A few weeks ago, I was stuck.
I had two paths in front of me.
Both had pros.
Both made sense.
Both were “good options.”
But one felt… safer.
More reasonable. Predictable.
The other felt… riskier. A little louder in my gut. A little uncomfortable.
So I asked myself one question:
“On Dec 31st, at 11:50pm…
Which one will make me smile that I actually did it?”
That question changed everything.
Because it made me zoom out.
Made me look past the stress of now and into the pride of looking back.
I pictured it clearly:
It’s the end of the year.I’m sitting quietly, reflecting.
No noise. No drama. Just asking:
“Did I show up this year… or did I hide?”
And suddenly, the decision became obvious.
I’ve made it a rule now:
If I’m choosing between two actions…
I choose the one that makes me nervous now,
but proud later.
I call it the 11:50 Rule.
Because those last 10 minutes of the year don’t lie.
They’re when your calendar turns into memory.
When the days blur together…
But the decisions stand out.
The scary one.
The one that stretched you.
The one you almost didn’t take.
So if you’re stuck on something right now…
A decision, a leap, a message you haven’t sent, a project you’re scared to start…
Try this:
Fast forward to Dec 31, 11:50pm.
What will make you smile that you actually did it?
Then do that.
Even if it’s scary.
Especially if it is.
To your growth,
Vikko
