Me vs the warm blanket: 1–0
You ever catch yourself awake before the world?
That happened to me the other day.
Not on purpose.
I had 5 hours of sleep.
My usual rhythm is waking up at 8, after a late work shift.
But at 5am, I was up.
No alarms. Just my bladder.
I could’ve gone back to bed.
But something told me: “Don’t waste this.”
So I grabbed my keys. Went to the gym.
No crowd. No distractions.
Just silence, cold air, and dumbbells lined up like soldiers.
I crushed leg day. Got home.
Made coffee.
Journaled for 30 minutes.
By 7am, I already felt proud.
The rest of the day? Bonus.
Here’s the part I want you to take from this:
You don’t need a perfect morning routine.
But every now and then, it’s good to remember what it feels like to be ahead of life.
Before the noise.
Before the pings.
Before the world starts asking things from you.
Next time you wake up early?
Don’t waste it.
Make coffee.
Do one thing for your future self.
Even 5 minutes is enough.
And when you feel proud…
Let it linger.
You earned that.
