If You’re Struggling to Build a Dream, Read This Before You Quit

I Wanted to Quit—But This Strategy Saved Me

Dear friend,

My name is Vikko, and like most people, I once believed that success should happen fast.

When I started my journey with digital writing and create something meaningful, I thought I’d see results in just a few months.

After all, isn’t that what we see on social media every day?

Someone gaining 10,000 followers in a week.

Another person making six figures in their first month of business.

But here’s the truth: I was wrong.

At first, I thought I was doing everything right.

I was showing up consistently—writing posts, engaging with others, and trying to grow my presence online. But progress was slow. Too slow.

I started doubting myself.

“Maybe I’m not cut out for this.”

“Maybe the results aren’t worth it.”

I even considered quitting a few times.

But then, I had a realization.

The results I was chasing were long-term, but the expectations I had were short-term.

It hit me: I wasn’t failing. I just wasn’t giving the process enough time.

I realized that building something meaningful takes patience.

And patience isn’t just sitting back and waiting—it’s a deliberate strategy for growth.

That shift in mindset changed everything for me.

Here’s the truth no one likes to admit:

Success doesn’t come from quick wins or viral moments. It comes from staying consistent, even when you don’t see results.

This is how I grew an audience of 3,400+ followers in 16 months while balancing a 9-5 job and family responsibilities.

It wasn’t easy, and I’m not going to pretend it happened overnight.

But it worked because I embraced patience as a strategy.

Here’s how you can, too:

1. Build a “Scoreboard of Actions,” Not Outcomes

When I stopped obsessing over numbers—followers, likes, or revenue—I freed myself to focus on what actually mattered: the work.

Instead of tracking results, I tracked my actions:

  • How many posts did I publish this week?

  • How many people did I engage with?

  • How often did I experiment with new ideas?

This became my scoreboard.

Results take time to show up, but your actions are visible today.

They’re the leading indicators of success.

Focus on actions you can control, and the results will follow.

2. Set “Momentum Milestones” That Keep You Going

I used to set big, flashy goals like “1,000 followers in 3 months.” But when I didn’t hit them, it crushed my motivation.

So, I shifted my focus to milestones that rewarded consistency instead of outcomes.

Here’s what that looked like:

  • Writing and publishing 100 posts before judging success.

  • Engaging with 10 new people every day for a month.

  • Trying one new growth strategy every week.

These milestones didn’t just build my confidence—they created momentum.

And momentum is what keeps you moving when things feel slow.

3. Think Like a Chess Player, Not a Gambler

Too many people play for quick wins.

They gamble on shortcuts and gimmicks, hoping for instant results.

I took a different approach: I played the long game.

Instead of chasing trends or mimicking viral posts, I focused on building authority in my niche.

I thought about where I wanted to be in a year—not just next week.

Here’s the mindset shift:

  • Every post you write is positioning you for long-term success.

  • Every action you take is part of a bigger strategy.

  • The goal isn’t to “win” today—it’s to set yourself up to win consistently over time.

Patience isn’t passive.

It’s the deliberate choice to stay focused on the big picture, even when the small wins are slow.

Was it easy? No.

Did I want to give up sometimes? Absolutely.

But here’s the thing: patience is what separates those who succeed from those who burn out or quit too soon.

Most people aren’t willing to put in the work today for results they won’t see for months—or even years.

If you can commit to showing up consistently, tracking your actions, and playing the long game, I promise you’ll be ahead of 99% of people.

This is the strategy that worked for me.

And while I can’t guarantee your results, I can guarantee this: If you stick with it, learn as you go, and focus on what you can control, you’ll build something meaningful—without shortcuts and without regrets.

And that’s what matters.

To your growth,
Vikko
