Froyo Temptation: 0, Me: 1
I almost caved the other day.
It was hot.
I was tired.
Walking around Bonifacio Global City after work.
And then I saw it… Ilao-Ilao.
For those who don’t know, it’s this frozen yogurt place that pretends to be healthy
but turns into a sugar bomb the second you add 4 toppings.
Which I always do.
So yeah, I stared.
I stood there like a weak NPC.
Read the menu.
Imagined how good it’d taste.
Told myself:
“It’s been a long day.”
“You’ve been good lately.”
“Come on… just this once.”
And right there, I caught it.
That familiar little voice.
The one that always shows up right before I break a habit.
Always so reasonable. So logical. So damn persuasive.
But this time?
I stepped back.
I walked away.
No fanfare. No reward.
Just a quiet “no.”
And I’m not gonna lie, It felt amazing.
Not because I’m trying to be some nutrition monk.
But because I made a promise to myself recently:
“This is the year I finally see my abs.”
Not for the algorithm.
Not for the likes.
Not even for the health benefits.
Just because I’ve never stuck with it long enough to find out if I can.
And that’s what made yesterday matter.
It wasn’t about yogurt.
It was about keeping a promise.
A small one.
In a tiny moment.
That 99% of people would say doesn’t count.
But it does.
That “no” gave me momentum.
It gave me a tiny win I could carry into today.
It reminded me:
I’m not just trying. I’m doing it.
So if you’re in a moment like that…
Where the voice shows up and tries to close you on “just this once”?
Try saying no.
Then pay attention to how proud you feel after.
Not because you were perfect.
But because you chose you.
